The Future of the Internet......What will it look like in 10 years?

Satellite WiFi-  In the future telecommunications technology companies, will be fighting for market share of the internet service market around the world. They will either launch more satellites in space or use existing ones to project WiFi hot spots around the world, so there could be internet access across the globe. One company is already providing this service, they are Iridium. The hot spot will cost about US $800 and data rates will vary depending on the Iridium airtime plan, and speeds will be low, about 20 kilo bits per second. (Williams,2014). If More companies start to provide this service it will inevitably become more cheaper and faster. Thus, resulting in internet access everywhere, and no one will be secluded from using the internet. This will also, make broadband internet less demanded, and it may even make data plans, that certain service providers provide obsolete.

The Future of the Internet........ 3 Devices that will become Obsolete in the future

3 Devices

  1. Smartphone screens- Smartphones traditionally have rock hard glass screens which are easy to crack, and damage. These will soon become obsolete, There is a already flexible smartphone screens, that have been developed by LG, there product is known as the LG Flex.

LG: Curved smartphones like G Flex 40% of market by 2018

  2. The laptop.- Laptops are now becoming less popular than ever because of the prominence of Tablets. Tablets are smaller, and have touch screen features. Some may argue that laptops will still be demanded because of their larger keyboards, and its certain feel, but there is already holographic technology which will allow users to project a hologram keyboard on any surface where the tablet rests.

  3. Digital Cameras- Digital cameras are becoming less popular than before, due the dramatic change in picture quality that smartphones are now able to bring to the table. Camera companies are now shifting there manufacturing process to more high end cameras, because the low end cameras are being surpassed in digital quality by smart phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5. Also, smart phones are more convenient, because most people always have it on them to take pictures.

Misinformation spread using Twitter

One example of how Twitter is used to Twitter being used to spread false information, came from the wake of the Ebola virus touching down in Texas. Some twitter users were spreading false information about Ebola and how it was spread from South Africa.

Below is a set of tweets that shows this.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Twitter compared to Blogging

Advantages:

  1. You are able to communicate to specific people or organizations about specific issues at a much faster rate than blogging.
  2. With Twitter you are able to follow people and look at their posts, and what they are saying. You are able to communicate short messages to a particular target audience or target market.
Disadvantages:

  1. There is only a specific amount of words you can type in a tweet, or message, which limits the amount of context you are able to forward to your audience.
  2. You can follow anyone and anyone can follow you, so it makes it hard to convey your message because you dont know if someone is actually paying attention to your tweets/posts.

How I feel about Twitter.

So what is Twitter? Twitter is a social media network, where people can communicate and interact with a a variety of people, including celebrities. My Opinion of Twitter, is that its much more suited for celebrities and corporations than just regular users. There is no real time messaging system for Twitter, and can't really comment under pictures or tweets.

One feature that is predominant in Twitter is the use of hash tags. A hash tags enable a user to link a tweet or picture to another persons twitter account. This can be both positive and negative. It can promote a person to a particular product.

Current Financial Affairs: Canada's Club Coffee sues Keurig Green Mountain for $600 million

Shares of Keurig Green Mountain popped on Thursday making it TheStreet's Move of the Day. The company known for its single-cup coffee makers announced that it is partnering with sandwich chain Subway to serve its single-serve brews across the restaurant's North American locations. Keurig's president of U.S. sales and marketing, John Whoriskey, said in a statement: "Keurig' brewers help SUBWAY franchisees simplify operations by eliminating the need for separate brewing of regular, decaffeinated and flavored coffee, reducing waste and clean-up of unconsumed coffee." TheStreet's Joe Deaux reports.

This story is related to current financial affairs regarding a Canadian Company. Canada's Club Coffee said it was going to sue Keurig Green Mountain Inc. Canada Club Coffee is alleging that Keurig Green Mountain Inc engaged in anti-competitive measures, that makes Keurig maintain a monopoly and keep single-serve coffee prices high.

My Perspective of the Future of Blogging

A few things may happen in the world of blogging in the next 5-10 years. Blogging is already being incorporated to a small number of social media websites, one example is Pinterest. I think in the future the more popular social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter will incorporate blogging into their social networks, and be able to share it to different users.

I also feel that there will be more jobs related to creating professional blogs for major corporations, in order to influence consumers about certain brands or products.

I also believe that scholars, academics, and authors will soon use blogs to divulge research or information about certain topics online through academic databases. Students will probably be able to reference work from these blogs to create their own work. Blogs are more visually appealing, and most often are better organized than traditional academic literature.
